How I Work
Relationship
My style is warm, empathetic, and playful. In working with parents and children I often work as a translator to improve family communication. Building an authentic and genuine relationship in therapy can help your kid form better relationships with others and with themselves.
In therapy speak: I have a client-centered, trauma-informed, relational approach
Skills
Your child or teen will gain practical skills to improve their ability to manage big feelings, challenge worries, get out of a dark mood, communicate with others, and understand themselves. I present emotion regulation tools in a way that makes sense to your child and applies to their particular circumstances.
In therapy speak: I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and elements of DBT, CFT, and ACT
Growth
Childhood and adolescence are times of constant change and development. As your child grows, their challenges might change and evolve. We can partner together to support your child in becoming the best version of their current self and the best adult they can be.
In therapy speak: I am strength-based, collaborative, and social justice oriented
